What: Creative Writing Workshop
Where: The Black Hand
3112 Woodcliff Avenue
Richmond, VA 23222
When: 12/11 3pm-5pm (whoever is interested in going to the poetry reading at the Flying Brick can stay until we leave to carpool to the event. It starts at 6pm!)
Why: This will be a space where people can write and share their pieces of writing. Everyone is encouraged to share their truths in opposition to the words and representations of "mental illness" that surround us. We believe we have mad gifts to be cultivated and taken care of, rather than a disease or disorder to be "cured" or "eliminated."
By joining together as individuals and as a community, the intertwined threads of madness and... creativity can inspire hope and transformation in a repressed and damaged world. Come cultivate your gifts with us!
This creative writing workshop is for anyone interested in any form of creative writing, whether poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir, short stories, songwriting...anything! Experienced writers as well as those who are not as experienced are equally welcome.
There will be an informal reading at the end of the writing session. You are welcome to bring and read any piece that you or any other author has created as long as you give credit to the author.
**This is a sober event, so no drugs or alcohol, please!**
