Personal Check-ins

Will: car crash story, doing well, really attentive and connected to body, taking it easy, slowing things down a lot – against his tendency

Annie: echo Will on slowing down, importance of re-evaluating how time’s invested; healing in MA both strange and essential; spending more time writing, walking in nature, reading; more clear emotionally and with “next steps”; feeling better physically, just burdened by continued IV treatment

Mimi: inspired by coping skills used; excited by next phases with Icarus, campus work and Fountain House collaboration, how’s it going to shape up, how’re we going to raise $, starting new chapter w/organization

Workgroup Check-in

Will: Not been on the ball as much as he’d like to be…
-    Still working on German translation of Harm Reduction guide, slowly moving forward
-    When in Toronto, connected w/Griffin (involved in Icarus/FH years ago)
o    Griffin working with Damn 2025 anti-poverty campaign, developing cool disability politics – will follow-up for possible collaboration
o    Sascha tried to bring Griffin into Campus initiative – holistic/anti-oppression workshop development, etc.? Make that connection…
-    Leaving for Peru on July 18th! Mental Disability Rights International consulting gig

Annie:

-    Ed/Outreach projects in motion: Road Trip Nation and Oz – both want to interview Icaristas for documentary/Youtube show (respectively)…will nail down specifics when back in NY in July
-    Upcoming conferences:
o    NYAPRS in September in upstate NY – Annie will attend with Brad and represent TIP/do Campus outreach/networking
o    NASCO in November, in Ann Arbor – TIP has done workshops past two years, currently putting together this year’s contribution and figuring out financial/residential/travel specifics
-    Annie will connect with Angel re: rescheduling FH meeting w/ brie – Sam, Lucy, Casey to attend also, and re: getting together to breakdown a timeline of summer Campus goals

Will: Tour in the fall? Something to think about and discuss on an upcoming call…

Mimi:
-    FJC budget report due July 1st, and our budget in tandem – but deadline not rigid
-    Numbers part of report done, working on draft of narrative part – will send around over this           next week
-    general rule: if grassroots org. can function for next 6 months, pretty good shape
-    now at 5 months mark – time to get a bit alarmist
-    “the time is now!” – at the point when $ needs to be a major focus
-    need to come up with a strategy to get us in more secure position – year ahead instead of months
-    need to kick fundraising into gear
-    we’ve been stumped on how to rally a fundraising campaign – makes sense right now to
-    Will’s suggestion: focus on membership development?
-    Workgroup budgets: ballpark numbers, short narrative about why those numbers, and brainstorm        for fundraising/sources of income
o    Submit in orderly fashion to Mimi, and she’ll support those fundraising strategies
o    Each of us take on a certain amount of leadership for fundraising
o    Make sure you’re connecting with people who formally or informally are connected with your group, stakeholders – roles they may be willing/able to take on through the year
o    July 1st deadline for draft
