Hey guys I have missed you all!

So I won't go into detail here because I will see you guys (well some of you) Wed, but I wanted to raise the issue of healthcare and how important it is because I just found out I have some rather serious health issues asside from any MAD issues that have resulted in me having to give myself shots and take meds for this issue that is related to my immune system.

So my question is: how do we get our healthcare needs met in an age of no access to insurance or healthcare? They denied me medicaid cause I don't have a kid. How many other people with mental health issues have underlying medical conditions causing some or all of their symptoms? How many people are DYING because they can't afford to go to the doctor and only end up in the ER after it's too late?

I am bringing this up because I think it is especially important for us mad folk to get checked out physically because psychiatrists and therapists often won't think anything of symptoms (they'll just attribute it to madness and maybe we will too) and this could be really serious. Physical ailments often present with symptoms that could be interpreted as depression or mania if we are used to thinking that is the issue. So.....I don't know what the solution is since I STILL don't have health insurance but if you have physical symptoms don't assume they are just due to depression and or mania. That's my advice.
