lower Allston
Please let us know if you or anyone you know is interested! One room available as single or double from June 1 as sublet or permanent housing
The people: a trans and queer friendly leftist cooperative house in lower Allston, currently made up of ten people, many of whom are musicians.  We are committed to living sustainably together and to making our community a safer, more just place.  We value community, and often have gatherings and shows, particularly for leftist causes.  We have many different needs, but we work together to make sure that everyone is safe and happy through anti-oppression analysis.  We share chores, vegan cooking, and expenses (utilities and food) as decided by consensus, in order to lighten everyone's workload.  We have a number of projects we're working on.  For example, we often have a women and trans discussion group
The space: a seven-bedroom one-family house, currently with ten housemates.  Two full bathrooms, two common rooms, a large kitchen, open basement, and large yard.  The neighborhood is home to people of many ages, income levels, ethnicities, races, sexual orientations, and gender identities.  Unfortunately, the house is not yet wheelchair accessible.
Our ideal housemate: pays rent and expenses on time, fulfills household chores, understands the importance of queer and trans allyship, is involved with or thinks about leftist or liberal community work, is creative, is good at communicating, and is generally considerate.
Expenses: to rent the room as a single will be about $490, plus about $120 a month for food and utilities during the summer, and about 160 a month for food and utilities during the winter.  We calculate rent first by common space, which everyone pays the same, and then rent varies based on square feet in each person's room, so the room as a double would not be just half of $490, but would be in the $300s.
Dealbreakers:  No oppressive (racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or classist) attitudes, hard drugs, firearms, or non-human animals
