Just the kind of support I needed! Excited to start group/meet up with others in Phoenix. Interested in "StandUp For Mental Health", bringing discussions about MH to communities through comedy. Mentioned "RenCenter" and "Art Awakenings" to connect with re: icarus/fundraising support. FightForRoses-been to NYC meetings, going to try to make it to the fundraiser event next week with painting to sell. Interested in activism and media messaging/tone vs. content/learning tactics to change system/nervous about interface w/mainstream. Inel-Involved in local group (4yrs), TIP Support Network working group, TIP collective-been talking about member driven fundraising drive, new database to better engage one another and connect. Angel-TIP education working group/campus coordinator. Party in NYC next week, back from NASCO (cooperative living/working), did community mad mapping, developing workshops. Personally, fun afternoon ahead, overcast, upcoming surgery tues. FromTheNon-Long time lurker on site/member for a few years. Has been accepting mental health issues. No other Icarus identified folks in her area. Back to school, minor in legal studies/interest in pursuing/supporting legal process to support people w/mh issues. Psych Patients Rights Organizations in every state. Mention of Psychrights.org and Bazalon as legal orgs to get involved with. Will-Over five years w/TIP, media/publications working group. Updating materials. Announcement that Hearing Voices Network (England) planning tour w/public educational events/trainings next year. Announcement-US Social Forum in Detroit June 2010 (TIP ally Kiran involved in organizing), possibility of Icarus tour + national gathering during the event. Need to start planning/envisioning. Bmad-Involved in TIP since beginning. Found this space for healing collective work. Bmad is project legacy holder, musician/artist folds into activist work. Excited about trip to NYC next week to present at INTAR (international treatment and recovery conference at NYU) and be involved in event and fundraising activities for TIP. Idea from FightForRoses from other activist org to develop software. Can send resource to willATtheicarusprojectDOTnet to follow up.
