Call Notes – April Seven

Present: Angel, Annie, Eric, Will

Check-ins: Happy Spring, lots of wind, new apartments, not enough sleep, at the beach

Possible projects in the wings

-       film based off of Coming Off of Meds guide

-       mobilizing local groups + doing support for Hearing Voices tour

-       decayed_beauty tour: forum thread

-       prison project – will has contact in California, excited about coalition work

[note: also have trauma reader in the wings]

action-items: will handling follow-up for most of the above, he will update as things come closer to fruition

Crooked Beauty film

-       Annie and Will acting as contacts/coordinators on Icarus end of this

-       Annie in contact with producer, handling facebook outreach, etc etc

-       Will in contact with possible distro opportunity

-       Doing website outreach – possibly organize events etc once dates are finalized

Action-items: Annie to look at blog post, Annie and Will keep rest of us in the loop regarding needs/opportunities for film events/outreach

Bash Back conf
-someone from forums attending, willing to do workshop
- Angel has been in touch and will follow-up as needed

action-items: Angel to send workshop outline and supporting materials to Will for website post

USSF updates

-       call: Christin, Madigan, Annie

-       notes on forum thread

-       went over fundraising strategies, logistics, who doing what etc

-       next call will be folded into all community call – deadline for getting info around housing and start nailing down attendance

-       workshop proposal sent-in – yay --

-       estimated budget: $1500 plus ind travel costs

-       Angel in contact with folks from AJ Muste who would be willing to house with us if we needed people

Action-items: we can submit another workshop – Will to reach out to Freedom Center this week about joint workshop, other possibility a moderated discussion, proposal still due on twentieth; let’s make sure that if we can Freedom Center and TIP workshops don’t get scheduled at same time

Tech Update

-       Eric pulling together volunteers for small projects, still need to get back with programmer who is offering six months to build program for us – WRAP program? Mood tracker? Etc – Still need to have larger web-focused call – hopefully with J, N, Astra, other allies, etc

Action-items: Eric to get prototype of Salsa storefront working for distro, get the HS guide to mental health converted to PDF and online

Next Calls

-       still need to decide on call structure – desire to move towards more focused calls, perhaps with different subsets of people on them and not just coordinators and not all coordinators every week

-       want to decide call topic and agenda and facilitator in advance – facilitator to distribute agenda before calls

-       next call topics: fundraising, web redesign, values/wellness check in

action items: Angel to distribute email with possible topics and dates – we will all check in over email to decide on call schedule and point person for each call as well as figure out call schedules and lengths – maybe not do important call next week b/c Annie can’t make it until end of call

Wellness

- would like to not lose focus on shifting structure of coordinators, check in around stipends, opening up working groups, coordinator accountability, follow through from kiran visioning, etc
