Consensus on base pay for transition team and other roles
In lieu of formal check in, difficulties around this particular call were acknowledged. Focus during early morning hours, being sick, calling from difficult location, technical difficulties with phones/echoes/background noise, and general burn out were expressed.
Women’s Encuentro Report Back:
Because of the dense and emotional nature of the recent Women’s Encuentro, ongoing conversations and the scheduled follow up women’s call Sunday 2/17. This agenda item will move to the next collective call.
Review of invite for Transition Team:
Everyone agreed they overall liked the letter drafted by Will/Molly.
Still needs to be further refined and edited.
Concerns expressed about being overly self-congratulatory w/ disingenuous enthusiasm.
Needs more clear bullet points of who, what, how, why, etc.
Molly will further strip draft invite and send to Madigan for refinement.
Madigan will send draft to all Owls for review prior to mailing invite to interested Transition Team members by Friday 2/15.
How to move forward with Transition Team?
Madigan spoke with Kieran, Mimi, and Alex about roles on Transition Team.
All are interested, but have concerns about how decisions will be made, compensation, time/commitment, and use of phone/email in process, follow through on past issues.
Kieran has a lot of great ideas and experience in collective organizing.
Sascha is currently playing phone tag with MaryKate.
Madigan needs MaryKate’s contact information/email/phone.
Campus Icarus Update:
Sascha will email update on Campus Icarus to Owls.
Consensus on base pay for transition team:
After lengthy discussion of pay/finances/budget/roles/chickens and eggs,
group came to consensus on increasing proposed Transition Team Pay to $500 for the 6 week project, based on a dedicated commitment of at least 5 focused hours of work weekly towards flight plan.
There is still gray area around what additional roles will be paid at what rate.
Molly will be paid the same amount as other Transition Team members during the flight plan project and will be compensated (undecided/at what rate?) for past involvement since 2/1/08 up to present.
