7/16/08 Icarus Collective Meeting

No formal agenda put out this week.
Proposed shorter meeting. Prioritize what seems most important.
Education/Outreach and Web Team seem like priority areas.
Difficult to talk about without input from Web and Ed coordinators.
***Proposal: Find time next week to hold a work meeting for education/outreach/campus
in addition to regularly scheduled collective/coordinator meeting.
*Everyone needs to state time availability to do this.
Can schedule similar meeting for web work meeting as needed/able.
Need to build strong teams of volunteers for work groups.
Suggested skill sharing around teambuilding, coordination of volunteers and partnering.
Molly willing to do this via conference call if folks want.
Edu/Outreach-Campus Coordinator:
Are there candidates in NY or are we starting from scratch?
Casey (FH/NYC Icarus) has expressed interest and wants to build skills in that area.
Sascha has been in touch with Neil (has had significant involvement in campus icarus already, is connected at NYU) He may be interested.
Identifying candidates does not cancel out need to openly post position openings.
Idea of interim person or contract/consultant position discussed.
Focus on specific time sensitive needs/focus on campus icarus .
Need input from Michael and Nick to formalize proposal.
Idea:
Find out if Neil would be interested in being consultant and if he has availability to get on board immediately.
3month contract with specific areas of focus-clear X Y Z.
Grant fulfillment-Find out where we are at (stats) with grant objectives.
Be a part of job search/hiring/training process.
Identify overlap/define roles within overall Edu/Outreach with co-coordinator.
Proceed with job posting and hiring process.
Hiring process should inform creation of overall Icarus hiring policy and procedure that can be used for future hiring.
*Mimi will check in with Sascha and Neil about conversations already had and, check in with Michael about thoughts/ideas.
*Will, will create proposal once we know more and will send to all via email.
Discussion about what Icarus policies are currently active—email communication policy, wellness, grievance, etc. Need to take down what’s not relevant and refine and improve what already exists.
Molly/Support Network has been looking at policies related to wellness and wants to work on refining policy and process with support team volunteers.
*Molly will circulate Wellness policy and Email Communication policy to all coordinators to bring attention to what is currently in place.
Next Collective Meeting Wed. 7/23, 12noon (est) 9am (pacific)
Molly will send agenda before meeting based on items not covered this week and last.
We will need a facilitator and scribe.
