Will: Thinks he’ll be able to make it to the USSF! Exams coming up at school.

 

Madigan: Grounding in TJ, halfway through pregnancy! Isn’t sure if she’ll make it to USSF, sadly…but still wants to help with planning process. Wants to focus on involving more people.

 

Eric: Spring! Excited to work on community garden.

 

Angel: Tired. USSF on mind. Wants to get caught up with Icarus wellness matters.

 

Annie: Moved into new apartment this week, working on settling. Rough time right now w/one-year anniversary of Dad’s death. Emotional waves.

 

 

 

Agenda

 

• Wellness Call follow-up

-       How to use social forum time to address wellness issues? Hasn’t really been working via telephone.

-       Review specific goals from last wellness call: Rewriting wellness policies, rewriting our mission/vision,

-       Eric: growing increasingly uncomfortable with organizational structure moving towards working groups and volunteers – seems like we’ve gotten stuck - $$$ questions

-       A lot of talk about changing the structure…but not follow-through

-       We’re all doing a lot of work individually, but hard to find others to really take on tasks (interest/excitement fizzles)

-       Expand coordinating collective somehow?

-       If our values are X, how well are we acting those out? Need solid sense of our values for ripple effect.

-       How do we deal with issues within this collective, which then expand to the greater macro Icarus community? If not figured out in collective, doesn’t filter out to others.

-       Create proposal re: our values on privilege and oppression; collective & structure; communication

-       Break-out groups/partnerships within collective to brainstorm:

1.     Values/Mission Statement/Wellness Policy

a.     explicit analysis of privilege and oppression

2.     Structural issues

-       Kiran to work with one/more of us to rewrite vision/mission statements?

-       Shift towards trauma-based perspective across mental health movement

• Angel – Will take the lead on reevaluation of wellness policy and mission/vision statements, and bring it back to the group; get in touch with Kiran about it

• Wellness Call follow-up in 3 weeks (Wednesday, June 9, 2010)

• Eric setting up account with other conference call provider

• Annie will send out an agenda/reminder re: fundraising call

 

  • Shift from working group starting point to projects as starting groups, from which working groups form…makes sense, seems to be working
  • Action items and deadlines – productive and something to try to keep up with
