Curl up and disappear

That’s what happens
When I’m placed in a chemical weir
My fish has no place to go
And my fins become redundant
While in this cage
Of wait and be patient
For the person who set the trap
For the person who maintains control
Until one day I get taken
Like a fish out of water to be grilled
And dished up and made a meal out of.
Curl up and disappear
There is no hope in a chemical weir.
There is no place to go.
There is no show.
The play has been curtained.
My fins become redundant
While my tail is cramped
As I wait and be patient
And listen to the trap’s chant:
You cannot, you don’t, you won’t,
You shouldn’t, you shall not,
You will never, you aren’t
Ever going to be free again.
You got caught. Too bad.
Too late. You’re a has been
And nothing more.
Curl up and disappear
That’s what happens in a chemical weir
Where I wait and am told
To be patient and wait
Until I’m grilled and served
And made a meal out of.
