Danny

This painting was done in my tenement apartment in the East Village not
long after I graduated art school.  The works from this time of my life
have a truth about them that captures my un-quiet, un-medicated state
of mind then, years before the first of many incorrect attempts by
professionals at diagnosing my demons, My struggle to achieve balance
in my life was shared by those around me; addictions, excess and
creating art were inextricably linked, Now my art is tempered by the
medications I am on.   Perhaps that is why I consider this early work
some of my best.
