Last Day of the Year
Submitted by ulivillwait on Thu, 12/31/2009 - 8:51amThis was the last decade I expected to have suck so hard. It sucked at a truckstop. It sucked long before everyone had to run and check their twitter, it sucked the moment Joey Ramone died, it sucked while we punished terrists, it sucked while we we helpless to call bullshit on the lies about it. It sucked when gay rights were subject to the bigot electorate, it sucked when Lady Gaga (Paris, Palin, etc) wasn't laughed into shame. It sucked when Y2K didn't evaporate all technology. It sucked when a cheater took BAbe Ruth's Home Run record. It sucked when my favorite coffee cup fell off the countertop.
I can't remember how I felt about it when the 80's turned into the 990's. Likely I was still disappointed about what happened when the 70's turned into the 80's, and I was only four years old and in a LSD haze when the 60's became the 70's. Before that I can't remember much except for 1829, when nothing much happened either.
