Wow. this is exciting. I'm sitting in our very first real office. We've painted the walls purple and orange, scrounged together some salvaged furniture, set up a computer, hung up a bunch of art, finagled through the bureaucratic maze of Fountain House to get internet and a phone, and now I am actually typing a blog entry in our very own space with 3 huge windows and a door that closes! Whooo hooo! And it's going to be posted on our new website that was the whole big collaborative effort between lots of people and open source software and luck and hard work... and we have a functional blog now on The Icarus Project website. yea!

Life is weird.  Today we did job interviews. I never thought that I would be sitting in a room in mid-town manhattan interviewing my peers to come work on this radical mental health network that got dreamed up in an evening of mania 4 years ago and today is actually more stable and more functional than any collective I've ever worked on. And it seems we've found the right person to work with us, and she is totally amazing. I am constantly astounded by all the paradoxes that the universe hands us. Some things in my life right now are SO stressful and difficult, and others are turning all harmonious and inspiring. Blessings and obstacles... probably all the same damn thing. Working on the whole patience part is the hard thing for me. Just dealing with each new twist and turn every day and letting go of the idea that somehow it's all going to get easy or I'm going to figure it all out. It doesn't seem to work that way. And here comes a new stranger into the Icarus office... so I guess I'll go now.
