Curiousity & ignorance
Submitted by kishoema on Mon, 12/08/2008 - 4:45pmSometimes I am astonished by the ignorance of the public. I must agree with the Buddhist idea that ignorance is one of the most powerful and prevelant dangers that society faces. It seems that people don't question the world enough. It is a pity that children are discouraged from questioning why things are the way they are. The parents might learn more about the world by answering the questions that their children ask. The children are able to present a view that the parents were unable to access. That is precious; that is what is needed, new perspectives. (Side note: one thing I can't stand is when a parent answers w/ "B/c I said so." Even from an early age I realized this meant their reasoning was bs.) We as a society need to encourage curiousity and wonder.
Perhaps later I will expand upon this, but now I want to fill the void within my tummy!
