Poem - Masks We Wear
Submitted by Twix on Mon, 05/04/2009 - 8:03pmOff to the ball I go.
Which gown tonight?
Blue or Green; Brown or Light?
So little time, so much to choose.
Win or Lose, tis all the same.
I dress for success, no matter how inane.
Costumes, Cover-Up, Make-Up, Beauty.
If it's only skin deep, why am I concerned so?
No matter, no worry, just hussle and bussle, tresle and trussle.
Remain prim and proper, that's the proper way.
Tonight I dance. Tonight I party. Tonight I act the part of naughty.
Yet, day still breaks, the cake caked on and on, the blackened eyes run long.
Mirror's truth is mine to behold.
Was I truly that bold?
Perish the thought, walk and wash it off.
Tomorrow is another show, and I a show-off.
