Girl in a Mirror; Words.
Submitted by daisydeadpetals on Wed, 12/08/2010 - 10:06pmAs my first blog entry, I'm posting my two most recent poems (and the only submissions to literary magazine, so far... kind of ironic since I'm the poetry edtior.) These are only the final versions, I have several other drafts which I'm not bothering to post. They were both originally drafted on the same night, about a month ago... one while I was brushing my hair, looking in a mirror... inspiration strikes at the strangest times. Note: "Mirror" will eventually have a painting of me to go along with it. and I'll post a copy whenever the painting's done.
"Words"
There really are no words for feelings.
Words only hint,
near and yet distant
from the feelings
they’re trying to convey.
Words are merely
weak approximations.
They cannot handle loneliness
or betrayal.
They cannot handle emptiness.
Yet we take words so seriously

I do not know what I see
My perception is off.
My eyes, they are blue –
nothing special, though.
They match the Victorian wallpaper.
And the Victorian wallpaper,
it matches the sink,
which matches the shower curtain behind my reflection.
Back to the mirror, now.
Now I see nothing.
Just a girl in a mirror
Fading well into the background,
an entity of no distinction.
Just a girl, looking in this mirror.
If I remember correctly, "Mirror" was only edited by me, while "Words" had several revisions made after that first night.. I'll be posting more poems/artwork as time goes on. Another note: most likely, none of the artwork posted will be my own. I won't be posting the individual's name for the sake of privacy, but please don't take the work. Thanks.
