Too Beautiful to Contain

In the glint of an eye I glimpsed a soul

And it was too beautiful to contain

That I exhaled its rich humility

Into every breath of life I bring

I hold a glint on my heart

And allow few to view

The mirror beyond my loud eyes

Withdrawn, looking away

In my waking and beyond the pale

May my soul call to thee

And may thee hear my voice

Whispering in the ether

And in our dreams may we meet

Though presences being what they are

Inhibitions keeping us in the drawer

Rolled up betwixt and between.

If thee never thinks of me

Wash away my memory

Greeting me as a stranger

When we meet, a peck on the cheek

Then walk away. If though remembers

The glint of my reflection, fare thee well

In recollection, imagination the same.
