The recent horrifying death of Robert Dziekanski at Vancouver Airport has provoked an international outcry over the indiscriminate police use of Tasers.

Despite this public opposition Toronto Police chief Bill Blair has stated his intention to place these weapons in the hands of every cop in the city, thus adding more than three thousand of these devices to the existing arsenal.

A public meeting was held at Innis College Town Hall  (University of Toronto) on February 6 to start discussion of a possible way forward toward halting this purchase, with speeches from a panel of prominent local citizens followed by lively discussion from the audience.

The first video in this series features remarks from Anna Willats of the Toronto Police Accountability Coalition (the meeting's sponsoring group) and Andy Buxton of Amnesty International's Toronto group. The second features internationally bestselling author Naomi Klein. The final clip is of David Reville, an advocate for the psychiatric survivor community and former member of the Ontario legislature.
