It is a travesty to those of us that have our mental health basically controlled, that the general public associates mental illness and violence.  My belief is that we need to mainstream more and not limit ourselves to ourselves but reach out to the community, come out of the closet, let our little lights shine and show the community that we are not to be feared.  We are not queer and we are here.

This is beautiful. 

I worry about the media's desire to link Cho's heinous act with "mental illness".  But I suppose it is good we come in and use different words, change the conversation.  Let's not forget the language we are creating here.  The NPR announcer used the word "mental illness".  The reporter, however did a really good job.  And thanks, Madigan, for that gravel angel.  I think the ripple effect of that act will be immeasurable.  It stirs such hope.
