Dear Sir,

I hate to be the one to be accused of ranting, but then in another way it doesn't matter if you rant or not as long as you are not deemed a madman, then indeed the parable of the madman is pointless. I have recently re-registered as a student of the arts. Now the registration process has gone surprisingly well, and I can not comment enough on the success of the student admissions office. However a minor error has cropped up. Now instead of complaining of this error as I do not think is appropriate nor my concern here. I wish to use this error as an example of how a lot of us have not listened to our dear friend, George Orwell, or indeed of his partner in allusion Radiohead.   (see; hail to the thief).

The incident has drawn my attention to this, maybe we are becoming more of a police state than we realise. As when things work it's all fine for the proles. However what happens when say perchance by computer error that one may not gain access to a certain establishment for the purpose of persuing an exercise of some sort. Then take it that this, no doubt was because of computer error. Now that being said it is not computer error that frustrates me as a computer is merely a tool for someone like me to make things happen without having the knowledge necessery to do it all manually. Hence they are somewhat popular in this University. However, lessons in University are what are important.

Now the lesson. The person I wished to deal with this error stuck to her guns alright. It was as I was told a *^&U%$£â‚¬ issue. Now that being said I do not think that I look like the type of person to violate the rules. I afterall, am an upstanding member of society and member of a University and do my utmost not to break the moral codes. However what I found frustrating was that this person based her refusal of myself on the basis of computer error. I assured her that; "˜I think you'll find I am registered', furthermore that I have a student card to prove this is the case. In addition I have explained my story to you (you weren't listening). However one might as well be speaking to a brick wall. The issue was one of"¦.security.

Now this word is often used by dictators to justify the murder of people with ideas. Now, not that I am implying that murder crossed her mind, although it may have,  due to my bombarment of logical reasoning on the basis of my aforementioned evidence.

"˜2+2=5'

We have not been paying attention. Soon enough no access will be replaced with no speaking and no thinking out loud. We are lucky in Ireland that the buzz of dictatorship doesn't work with our wiley ways. However good to be a facist sometimes. Policing in New York for example and smoking bans. Sometimes however it is good for people to use their brains and treat people like individuals who maybe strangers, but not automatically assume that you have criminal intent.
