The Hole

This is a painting of an eternally hungry little monster representing the endless hole that exists inside of me, creating a drive to consume things to fill it. I suspect that a lot of people understand this emptiness. Some things work for a while, like drugs, alcohol, food, sex, shopping, etc. When these things stopped working for me, it was one of the great heartbreaks of my life. The gaping hole is still there. These days, I look for other ways to distract myself from it. Making art helps.
