Icarus in Newsweek Magazine
Submitted by Icarus Project on Thu, 05/07/2009 - 7:24amNewsweek magazine just did a big story on Mad Pride and The Icarus Project, profiling Icarus Intergalactic Co-Coordinator Will Hall.
Check it out on the Newsweek site here; or view a .pdf of the magazine version here; you can also take a look at the art gallery they put together here that includes Icarus gallery art from Will, Lizxnn Disaster, Fly, Janice Sorensen, Laurie W., Quyn Horton, Martin Cohen, Jennifer Brister, Valerie Crosswhite, and Christina Mazzalupo. And feel free to leave comments and join the discussion on the Newsweek site.
Really nice article indeed :)
Really nice article indeed :)
will hall and newsweek raped me
Si il ya des homophones autour de moi je n'en suis pas consciente.----Catherine Deneuve
Without anyone consulting me about use of the artwork still up in our gallery, "Therapist is The Rapist", or in any way mentioning that TIP was involving itself with Newsweek, Newsweek posted a leaked jpeg of that picture to accompany its initial publication of that article. Other artists' works were included. Maybe they don't care if someone asks their permission about use of their artwork. Maybe their artwork does not include the word 'rape' in it, so that of course they might like to have a say in where and when it gets exhibited, or maybe no one even said their work was being used, or maybe like most artists they don't care about what happens to someone else when they get a moment in the sun for their own pictures.
Newsweek wrote its own explanation of "Therapist is The Rapist" and attributed it to eduardo, in fact including the name eduardo as a link. The description you see in our gallery is not the description Newsweek wrote and attributed to me. Newsweek wrote up a scenario in which the artist asks a policeman to rape him and then is handcuffed, and presumably goes off to the delictations of being raped on demand. That is the implication I drew from Newsweek's invented quote. Or maybe there are other readings possible of their so-called pull quote. It does not matter, because the quote was fabricated. You can read on our site....though you can no longer compare to what Newsweek wrote, because they took it down. Too late to absolve themselves to ME,but they took it down.
Because within a day or two of my complaining to TIP organizers about what happened, "Therapist is The Rapist" was removed from the Newsweek website---and unless someone is brave enough to confess what happened and who took the blame, and how the picture was taken down REALLY, since I don't know----this incident now has the flavor of an entire fiction created by me. Just like people who supposedly fantasize or imagine rapes because of some trauma that happened to them in the past, or because they are supposedly sexually repressed, or some other things, such as hysterical or neurotic or female or bipolar or schizophrenic or whatever flavor you like, such as 'not taking their meds', it can now be said that 'this never happened'. Sadly, there is in my circle of observers only one other person who saw this happen, and she is my partner. She is the one who discovered it all online to begin with. Being a dyke and not wealthy and my partner, she, too, is not gong to be believed that anything like this took place. Clients of Newsweek magazine who regularly use it to propagate lies that promote conservative agendas of stuffy universities and government offices that are anti-gay, anti-queer, anti-woman, and so forth, are able to make use of such magazines all the time to empty issues of any significant meaning, at the expense of the people they victimize who might have a real stake in what's going on. People such as actual mad people, not the ones who pass for sane such as Will Hall and put their mad pride friends at risk by pretending to speak for them to a dirt-seeking rag like Newsweek. People such as Will Hall who benefit when someone in their circle gets raped this way will never understand with whom they just shook hands at Newsweek, but maybe they don't care. In fact, I KNOW Will Hall will never care, and probably never believe, that other people have been traumatized by his posturing as any kind of trauma specialist or by his proferring phony therapist friends onto other TIP members in a completely unsolicitied way. Will Hall, who is your friend Bill Say who dared to email me about some unidentified pseudo-therapy he wants to try with me and any other willing random stranger in the Bay Area? Or do you not know who he is, and did you not give him my email address? Why the hell would you do such a thing? Who asked your sorry ass for help? You're a lame piece of shit and you know it, just like everybody else, in addition to which you have a proclivity for serial plagiarism and cover-ups and you are a star-fucker of the six-pointy-headed variety, you are a publicity-seeking jew-hater. See it? Or you would have friends at NPR who love you. HA!
Will Hall, what exactly was it that those Jews at NPR said about you that made you go rat the whole of TIP out to a conservative tool like Newsweek magazine? Do you want the attention that badly? Or maybe you don't know what kind of arm-twisting Newsweek is capable of doing, such as, stories they have sat on for decades, lies and slander they have committed against people near you in the past, ways in which their ability to distort reality increases by your opening up your stupid so-called left-wing trap to them and putting other people in danger.
You will never be able to make this up to me. You work with other people here at their own risk. You don't know what you just did. But Newsweek knows, and it is rubbing its hands together in glee.
On the motto that I can't prove you are a pigfucker, Will, but I can certainly make you deny it....welcome to the big arena of who loves you now: the right wing.
Go ahead, Icarus Project, censor me now.
