Philadelphia Icarus Project Support Group Meeting
Submitted by sealux on Wed, 11/07/2007 - 5:47pm
The Philadelphia Icarus Project: A Radical Mental Health Collective for individuals labeled with a "mental disorder" or who consider themselves to have developmental differences and their allies. We believe in revolutionary change of the for-profit mental health industry. Our mission is to eradicate the stigma associated with "labels" and to have direct control over the decision-making process of our mental healthcare treatment tailored to meet our individual needs.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Philly Icarus meets 2nd & 4th Sundays at the A-Space, 4722 Baltimore Avenue on the SEPTA #34 green line surface trolley route. There is plenty of parking for bikes & cars on the south side of Baltimore Avenue between 47th & 48th Street. The A-Space is a collectively run anarchist community meeting space and gallery. Most events are free/we survive on donations.

Philly Icarus is an inclusive advocacy and support group.
* Some of our members use traditional mental healthcare treatments such as pharmaceutical drugs and psychotherapy, but many of our members also explore alternative treatments such as, orthomolecular psychiatry, yoga, meditation, spirituality, and the body/mind connection.
* Our goal is to create a supportive environment where people can feel less alienated, whether you are interested in a support group, want to start a project to explore the dangerous artistic gifts many of us posses or want to get involved in mental health advocacy.

support group.
It isn't happening now. I am trying to revive it @ the Aspace.
IT LOOKS VERY INTERESTING
I've recently signed on to this site and have been interested in
a support group of a real life people to become a part of and perhaps cope
with personal issues. I went there (The A-SPACE) twice in September and
twice in November on the 2nd and 4th Sundays to find no meeting. Please
let me know if it restarts.
Tkank You,
