My clinician actually suggested that I no longer need their services.  They're running me on a 3 month trial to evaluate.  This is cool because it is the same conclusion that I have been coming to.  I think that the most progress made toward living wholesomely with mental illness, is coming from holistic solutions discovered by the people who actually have the mental illness, and not from the drug-pushing clinicians.  That is not to say that I don't think that clinicians and medications have their place in our treatment, because I believe that they do, it's just that I don't feel that it is the only and final solution for all of us.  I needed them in order to get balanced and just as importantly, to get an idea of what so-called normal actually felt like.  This way, I am able to know when I am straying from that.  Time has helped me keep the balance closer to center.  It is encouraging to see that some clinicians are evolvong in their knowledge of bipolar disorder, just as we ourselves are.
