Icarus Community Conference Calls were originally seeded and started by Bmad as a way for folks to add input and influence into Icarus organizing, while networking with others around the globe to share resources and support.  Please check the Wiki for past call notes.  

If you or your working group would like to use the tele-wonkavator conference call space for meetings and conversations, feel free to do so.  Please check the calendar in the support network and intergalactic collective organizers organic group to see if it's available and send a note to a member of that working group to update the calendar. 

Before calls it's good to do outreach and send reminders with an agenda for people to think about.  For the 3rd Sunday Community Call:  Post on forums, under topic Envisioning Icarus, about a week before the call, with call in information and topic if there is one.  Make sure it is clear the calls are for everyone and that everyone feels welcome.  Send private messages and emails to people who have shown interest in participating, have participated in the past, or are involved in local groups or apart of our extended network of movement allies.  Keep the forum thread bumped up through out the week prior to the call.

ICARUS CONFERENCE CALL EVERY THIRD SUNDAY (of the month)

NOON PST (West Coast)
1 PM MST (Mountain)
2 PM CST (Central)
3 PM EST (East Coast)

this is a regular long distance call

2) follow the instructions

3) when you are prompted to enter the access code, enter 422787#  (icarus#)


Meetings usually go something like this and last one hour:

  • People beep in-Announce yourself (yes, a little beep beeps when someone comes or goes from call.  we try to pause and say hello.)
  • Chat amongst ourselves until enough time has passed or we've reached critical mass.
  • Agreements/Call Guidelines/Delegate meeting roles (notetaker, facilitators, timekeeper)
  • Introductions-Who is here?  Where are you calling from?
  • Decide if there is an agenda or if we'll let check in's influence the call's direction.
  • Personal Check Ins
  • Local Community Reports/Happenings
  • Mutual aid & support
  • Delegate roles for next call and summarize next steps.
