Mad Love in San Francisco on Valentine's Day!!

Bay Area Icarus was revived last summer, and we are officially full of surging, irreverent life.   We held our first event on Valentine's Day--Mad Love.  We had an open mic, a skilled MC, a cabaret of musicians and poets, and the evening skyrocketed to a close with the Brass Liberation Orchestra.

If you were there, you know.  If not, read on!  Almost as good. :)

When laws are a crime

Some laws are unfair

But the community backs them up.

For they are given fears

And the media stokes those embers up.

Think carefully about what you say

Hide away and try to avoid mentioning

Anything to do with your cause

That might give people pause

To think ill of your mentality.

MADNESS IS GENIUS IN DIRE NEED OF BEING HARNESSED

Madness is genius that wants and needs to be harnessed for creation. The mad mind must be fed a daily buffet of deep, challenging, creative work.

A relationship junkie

I have felt for a long time that my relationships have had a skewed element to them.  I have never had a relationship last longer than 7 years.  Much to my despair and defeat I have

Eyes in the Pine

Here's my blog, Eyes in the Pine, dedicated these days to exploring shadow, the daimonic, the numinous, the liminal, and the archaic. The Paradoxical and the Puzzling. Maybe even the Wierd.

Hunter S. Thompson meets Lorretta Lynne meets John Muir meets Camile Paglia in a Streetfight that gets Sexy.

Or something like that.

Been on a road trip South, way South. This blog features many"¦"¦.

Motographs- trying to capture the 'spirit world' with my cheap Motorola phone in Other Side mode. I call these low pixel low photographic skill shots 'motos'. I've never been a photographer until quite recently when Nature called me to get busy. Before that I was pretty much a slacker.

"Spirits"- figurative or literal?

Either way works for me. Motos are just the way these shots look untouched, but I change contrast, brightness to highlite the pattern, the Soul of the Scene. But not fundamentally altered, composed, or retouched in any way. (a very few have been arranged, which will be obvious) What you see was there in real life. Whatever that is. I feel something, then look for it anywhere, sort of see something, snap a shot, and hilight the 'pattern', or spirit, that wants to be revealed.

I feel that the 'other side', 'Nature' -and I'm not sure how to define any of this- wants to speak to us through these images and many others. They want us to listen. Pay attention. I don't know what they want to say, but it feels important that they be heard, felt, seen, however you can and as personally as possible, without knee jerk conceptual overlay, for yourself.

Anyone can learn to do this and the world needs us to do so. This is my message, in short. I'm diagnoses as Bipolar II rapid mixed cycling........
