An open letter to the people addressing the lack of spirituality and compassion in psychiatry/mental health.

I was really bored so here's a shitty essay! :)

As near as I can tell psychiatrists are the high priests of the new religious order. The language they use may differ but when it comes down to where the cheese binds, psychiatry's attitudes, superstitions and social control function are not significantly different from those of the medieval-era Church.

The doctor laughs, he darts an engaging, conspiratorial glance at me…..I don’t laugh, I don’t respond to his advances: so, without stopping laughing, he tries the terrible fire of his eyes on me. We consider each other in silence for a few seconds; he looks me up and down with half closed eyes, he classifies me. In the crackpot category? Or in the scoundrel category?.....
